The Bridge Moris team concluded its two-month, in-person founders’ sprint in Mauritius, that included a four-week roadshow, and Yashna headed back to the US last week.
During this time, we had an incredible 42 meetings with various stakeholders and started setting solid foundations for this crucial first year of operations, where we will be building the infrastructure for collaboration between Mauritius and its diaspora.
We met businesses, business associations, policymakers, diaspora members, the press, and our advisors. The interest, engagement and support we experienced was beyond anything we could have wished for, and we are so grateful for the village championing us.
Within a few weeks of getting our freshly-printed business cards in December, we:
👉 Held our first diaspora meet-up in Grand Baie, where an excellent time was had by all, so much so that Eden Beach had to kick us out;
👉 Piloted initiatives aimed at reversing brain drain;
👉 Partnered with the United Nations to support the development of the government’s National Diaspora Policy and Action Plan;
👉 Submitted a proposal to the PMO’s Electoral Reform Committee, in support of diaspora enfranchisement (https://bridge.mu/diaspora-enfranchisement/);
👉 Did a lot more that we cannot wait to share! We will, in fact, be launching one of our offerings in a few weeks.
Lots of food was involved, too, from Jim Snack in Port Louis to Ti Kouloir in Grand Baie; there were traffic jams, but also car sing-alongs and lots of laughter.
2026 has started strong.
Thank you for being on the ride with us as we build our bridge, and hope you enjoy the pictures we are sharing below!
